Hey everyone its been awhile since I've been on the website, anyways let me tell you alittle bit about my self I am a 22 years old female with my left leg amputeed. When I was 1 year old I was I got my first surgery. and after that I was told that nothing else could be done to make me walk better, well that was what my parents said. All doctors always said to me and my parents that my condition is so rare that alot of the doctors didn't want to miss with it. I finally found out about Dr. Paley that he was moving right around the corner from me. I called and set an appointment. I was so excited when I got off the phone with them and saying that they can definetly help me somehow. I right away called my parents because I was very excited. And they also couldn't believe it. On July 17, 2009 at 3:30 pm I was at Dr. Paley's office with my mom and my dad. First of course I had to go and do some x-rays, then after at around 8 p.m. Dr. Paley walked in my room saw my x-rays and explained to him that I want to be able to walk better. (I was amputeed) I explained to him that I am a very outgoing person, and on weekends and that sometimes I like to go to clubs with friends. Dr. Paley was probably in the room less then 20 minutes and gave me a choice to do surgery on my leg, which of if he can do anything to make me walk better, I was not going to think. I just said I would do the sugery. I've been thinking about this to get better ever since I think I started walking, so I wasn't going to go and think more. My surgery was schedule on August 19, 2009. The surgery was done and was in the hospital at St. Marys Hospital, was there for three days. Everybody there was very nice and helpful. So far now I am trying to recover. I do see alittle bit of difference just the way that I was sitting, can't till about the walking yet. Hopefully less then 2 months I will have an answer.....

21 year old with PFFD

Hi my name is Yesenia, I am on here because I want to see what people have accomplied or done to make them walk better. I been learning lightly alot these days about my condition, never really wondered or cared sadly. I just learned not to learn ago that I have PFFD, when I was about 1 1/2 year old I was amputeed on my left foot so that they can make a stump out of it. I wear a Prosthesis. I've been seeing alot of doctors trying to see if there is any chance that either a total hip or artificial hip could be done. I tell you it is tough even in how the economy is right now. The only reason I am trying to get a hip, is that I get alot of pain in my back because of the fact that I have to lug my prosthetic leg. There are times that I have called out of work because of severe plain in my stump. I try to make myself work at least 40 hours a week in order to pay my bills and I been denied on SSI. Really I'm here because I want to see if anybody out there or if theres a possibility of hip Surgery in my condition.
